With our subsea experience and engineering skills from the oil and gas industry, we and our partners can provide design support only or complete EPC with manufacturing, testing and on-site delivery for clump weight solutions that can be easily installed and integrated as mooring for any renewable concepts at any site and water depth worldwide.

Proprietary Cost Reduction Technology
The offshore wind mooring, anchors and foundations are a huge cost element of a floating offshore wind farm CAPEX. Due to uncertain soil and complex seabed conditions, use of conservative geotechnical design parameters, the gravity-based foundations, such as subsea clump weights may be over-designed. For an offshore wind farm with hundreds of mooring structures, this is not sustainable. Offshore Wind Design AS has invented technology, methods and solutions that can safely and significantly reduce cost for gravity-based mooring for offshore wind farms.
Clump Weights and Anchors for Offshore Wind
Clump weight foundations and anchors are used as mooring foundation for floating offshore wind turbines in shallow waters and in soil conditions where the suction anchors are not suitable due to soil penetration limitation. The capacity of the clump weights subsea is dependent on the coefficient of friction at the specific site where the soil would typically be a combination of sand, gravel and silt/clay.
Engineering, Analysis and Design of Clump Weight Foundations and Gravity Anchors
To reduce cost, in-depth knowledge of how to engineer, design and analyse clump weight anchors for offshore wind applications are required. Together with our geotechnical and technology partners, Offshore Wind Design AS can perform all required engineering, analysis and calculations according to the appropriate offshore wind codes and standards and recommendations. We also evaluate the hazards, uncertainties and perform risk minimization assessment. In addition, large scale production methods necessary to reduce cost will be developed for each project.
